The population-based, cross-sectional Tromsø study including 3570 men and women aged 25–79 years found a positive relationship between serum PTH and SBP with the highest quartile of serum PTH found to be an independent predictor of coronary heart disease in both sexes (OR = 1.70, 95% CI = 1.08–2.70 for males, OR = 1.73, 95% CI = 1.04–2.88 for females, p < 0.05). The gene discussed is PTH; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
