The results of positron emission tomography found that the 5HT1A receptors of brain decrease significantly during the depression.57 Unlike depression, migraineurs revealed an increase in 5HT1A receptor density.58 Furthermore, the first‐line antidepressants, known as SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor), which are used for depression, are not better than placebos for migraine patients.59 Instead, the most widely used preventive medicines for migraine, beta blockers, have adverse influences on depression. This evidence concerns the gene HTR1A and depressive disorder.
