ESPL1 expression has been found to be upregulated in a wide range of cancers (Finetti et al., 2014; Wen et al., 2018) and high expression of ESPL1 is associated with a loss of key tumor suppressor gene P53, which further contributes to the progression of mammary adenocarcinomas (Mukherjee et al., 2014). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is cancer.
