In two independent studies, nanoparticles were conjugated with glutamate as ligand for LAT1: Li et al. showed that glutamate-conjugated paclitaxel nanoparticles (SPG25 NPs) exhibited increased antitumor efficiency compared to unconjugated nanoparticles in breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo [74]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC7A5 and breast carcinoma.
