Alternative splicing of macroH2A1 isoforms, however, does not occur in all tumor types; it seems irrelevant in HCC, for instance, where down-regulation of both macroH2A1.1 and macroH2A1.2 occurs at the mRNA and protein levels [31,32,39,40].
