CDC25C and prostate carcinoma: Icaritin induced cell growth inhibition, G1 arrest, and mitochondrial transmembrane potential drop in human prostate carcinoma PC-3 cells, besides, it can induce cell apoptosis accompanied by activation of caspases as evidenced by the cleavage of endogenous substrate Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) (23). This activity could be further correlated to the capability of this prenylated flavonol glycoside to induce cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase accompanied by a down-regulation of the expression levels of the G2/M regulatory proteins such as cyclin B, cdc2, and cdc25C (24).
