Several epidemiological studies showed an inverse correlation between calcium intake and the risk of tumor development.14,15 Calcium performs several important physiological processes such as cell signaling, blood clotting, muscle contraction, nerve function, enzymes activation, ions transportation across the cellular membrane, and neurotransmitters communications with other cells.16 It is known that calcium performs its function through binding to special G protein -coupled receptor known as calcium sensing receptor (CASR).
