Another proteomic study identified a set of proteins within exosome released by Mel501 cells, i.e., proto-oncogenes (HRAS, NRAS), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 3 (TIMP3), heath shock protein isoforms (HSP90AB1, HSP90B1, HSPAIL, HSPA5), glucosidase II α subunit (GANAB), and actin-binding proteins (gelsolin, cofilin), all of which were previously found up-regulated in melanoma patients and associated with poor prognosis [30]. The gene discussed is NRAS; the disease is melanoma.
