In humans, this gene is involved in the process of ureagenesis, where it supplies HCO3− for carbamoyl phosphate synthetase and in gluconeogenesis for pyruvate carboxylase [33], and the low-expression or deficiency of CA5A results in impaired of bicarbonate which predisposes to hyperammonemia and hypoglycemia [34]. This evidence concerns the gene PC and Hypoglycemia.
