Recently, another effect of ROP16 has been described, which has to do with regulation of tumor suppressor protein p53 gene transcription and translation in the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y [31], in which ROP16 can induce activation of p53 protein, which promotes cell cycle arrest and p53-dependent apoptosis activation [32]. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is neuroblastoma.
