CD90+ tumor cells, considered as CSCs, from several cancers, i.e., HCC (Yang et al., 2008), gastric cancers (Jiang et al., 2012) and esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (Tang et al., 2013) were reported to form tumors in immunodeficient mice after injection of a very small amount of cells in contrast to CD90 negative counterparts. This evidence concerns the gene THY1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
