The function of circRNAs in the regulation of autophagy in cardiovascular diseases was demonstrated by Zhou et al. The Autophagy-related circular RNA (ACR) has a protective role in the heart against ischemia/reperfusion injury in a mouse model of myocardial infarction by repressing autophagy through a process that involves PTEN induced putative kinase 1 (Pink1) activation, family with sequence similarity 65, member B (FAM65B) phosphorylation, and the blocking of Pink1 promoter DNA methylation mediated by DNA methyltransferase 3 beta (Dnmt3B) (Zhou L. Y. et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene DNMT3B and cardiovascular disorder.
