At baseline, we observed a significant increase in CML, CEL, MDAL, and 8-oxo-dG levels (in plasma and urine, respectively) and a trend towards higher AASA levels in the plasma of AMN patients compared with sex- and age-matched controls, with CEL levels being the best discriminating factor of genotype (Fig. 2a). This evidence concerns the gene CEL and adrenomyeloneuropathy.
