There are four steps between TNF-α and anti-tuberculosis immunity [34]: (i) TNF-α can activate macrophage which promotes the formation and maturation of phagolysosome, and stimulates the production of reactive nitrogen intermediates by cooperating with IFN, controlling or killing Mtb, enhance macrophage and DC antigen presentation function in order to activate T cells, and promote the production of IFN cytokines.
