More specifically, the key features of γδ NKT cells include: (1) they are born with cancer recognition mechanisms of both γδ T cells and NK cells; (2) they are derived from γδ T-iPSC and render no risk of GvHD in allogeneic applications; (3) they have no/low-level expression of inhibitory KIRs and are unrestricted by recipient’s HLA phenotype; (4) they have no/low-level expression of immune checkpoint receptors (e.g. PD-1, CTLA-4 and Lag-3) and are insensitive to immune regulation by cancer cells.
