Elderly cancer patients in general receive less palliative chemotherapy and treatment recommendations for the elderly are uncertain as they usually are not included in clinical trials.8 In a recent retrospective study, elderly patients (>62 years) with malignant melanoma had a better response to anti‐PD‐1 therapy compared to younger patients,34 believed to be due to decreased intertumoral Tregs and increased CD8+:Treg ratio in the elderly patients. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is melanoma.
