Thus, higher levels of ESRP1 observed in these datasets may correspond to ahybrid E/M phenotype, which, as per the emerging notion,27–29,64–68 may be more aggressive than cellsat either end of the “EMT axis.” Besides breast cancer, ZEB1 has beenshown to directly repress ESRP1 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC),82,83 explaining the negativecorrelation between them in 22 NSCLC cell lines.84 Here, ZEB1 is linked to breast cancer.
