Our pursuit of the yeast signature of redox stress in cancers did not produce robust results: only a few individual cancer genomes had slightly increased mutational load of Cca to Tca changes; however, we detected mitochondrial redox stress gCg to gTg and ggCg to ggTg signatures, as manifested by increased mutation loads associated with these motifs, in all cancer types tested (Fig 9, S7 Table).
