Previous studies have attempted to identify the mRNA target of miR-944 in cervical cancer, and Xie et al. showed that miR-944 has two target genes, HECT domain ligase W2 (HECW2), which are known to regulate p63 stabilization, and S100P binding protein (S100PBP), which is known to reduce adhesion and invasion. This evidence concerns the gene TP63 and cervical cancer.
