Another type of pancreatic cancer called intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is less aggressive than PDAC and APC [47, 128, 129] and exhibits a characteristic expression of SOX9 confined to the lower portions of IPMN which is lost once the neoplasms advance to high-grade dysplasia carcinoma. This evidence concerns the gene SOX9 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
