In MS patients, 95% differentially methylated CpG-sites in CD8+ T cells were hypermethylation when compared to controls, such as APC2, HOXA2, HRNBP3, HEXDC and NTRK3. However, the role of DNA hypermethylation of CpG-sites within this gene in immune cells from MS patients is unclear. This evidence concerns the gene HOXA2 and myeloid sarcoma.
