OXTR and Cognitive impairment: A study conducted by Veras et al. (18) that assessed the role of oxytocin in the pathogenesis of 48 patients with schizophrenia showed that in 5 of those cases, patients who presented a variation in oxytocin receptor rare single-nucleotide variants also showed more severe cognitive deficits, despite the severity of psychopathology, and a history of early trauma.
