EGCG, as a potent inducer of HO-1, can suppress renal injury by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in several AKI models induced by contrast (EGCG 20 mg/kg intravenously) (Gao Z. et al., 2016), I/R (EGCG 50 mg/kg i.p. for 24 h) (Lv et al., 2015) and cisplatin (EGCG 100 mg/kg i.p. for 12 days) (Sahin et al., 2010), respectively. Here, HMOX1 is linked to acute kidney injury.
