Low VWF transcription (as occurs during von Willebrand disease) (Sadler et al., 2006) leads to the production of smaller WPBs (Ferraro et al., 2014), as does overexpressing Krüppel-like Factor 2 (KLF2) (van Agtmaal et al., 2012, Ferraro et al., 2016), a transcription factor known to coordinate an anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant response (Atkins and Jain, 2007, Novodvorsky and Chico, 2014). This evidence concerns the gene KLF2 and Von Willebrand disease.
