In the TCGA subgroup of laryngeal cancer and adjacent normal tissue samples, TREX2 mRNA expression is not significantly different (Fig. 2d), potentially indicating that TREX2 upregulation may already take place in non-malignant tissue impacted by pre-malignant deregulation and field cancerization effects frequently observed in laryngeal tumors [31, 32]. The gene discussed is TREX2; the disease is laryngeal neoplasm.
