Previous work from our group reported that small deposits of tumor which remain in collagenous scars on the peritoneal cavity following primary chemotherapy and surgery, express DIRAS3 and undergo autophagy in more than 80% of cases, whereas primary cancers from the same patients express DIRAS3 and punctate LC3 in less than 20% of cases [2].
