The results of immunohistochemistry showed that the number of GFAP positive cells in hippocampal tissues of rats in the EP + miR-103a inhibitors + BDNF-siRNA group was significantly higher than that in the EP + miR-103a inhibitors + siRNA-NC group (P < 0.01) (Fig. 7c), which indicates that inhibiting the expression of BDNF could block the effect of miR-103a inhibitors on the activation of astrocytes in hippocampus tissues of epilepsy rats. This evidence concerns the gene GFAP and epilepsy.
