The results revealed that in cells overexpressing miR-139, the protein level of E-cadherin, an epithelial marker, was up-regulated, while expression of ZEB1 and Vimentin, two EMT marker, was suppressed, while another important inducer of EMT, SNAIL1, was not affected (Fig. 3), further indicating that miR-139 can regulate migration and invasion in HCC cells via regulating EMT. The gene discussed is ZEB1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
