While a limitation of the study were the small number of cases, the study demonstrates that maternal HIV-1 infection might not have a dramatic influence on placental IGF1, IGFBP1, MMP2, MMP9, ANG1, ANG2 and Gal-13 levels in Cameroonian pregnant normotensive women with majority receiving cART. Here, IGFBP1 is linked to HIV-1 infection.
