Interestingly, some of these genes, such as calcium voltage-gated channel subunit alpha1 C (CACNA1C), glutamate ionotropic receptor NMDA type subunit 2A (GRIN2A), AKT serine/threonine kinase 3 (AKT3), hyperpolarization activated cyclic nucleotide gated potassium channel 1 (HCN1), solute carrier family 1 member 1 (SLC1A1) were previously associated with schizophrenia pathogenesis or a specific antipsychotic response (Ryu et al., 2011; Liu et al., 2015; Pers et al., 2016; Kabir et al., 2017; Yu et al., 2018). The gene discussed is GRIN2A; the disease is schizophrenia.
