As a consequence of the Aβ–RAGE interaction, activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (p38MAPK), stress-activated protein kinase or c-Jun N-terminal kinase (SAPK/JNK), and nuclear factor kB (NF-kB) signaling occur, indicating that RAGE can mediate a common proinflammatory pathway in Alzheimer’s disease [20,21,25]. The gene discussed is AGER; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
