Using two subsets of epithelial cells (Figure 6A), that is, subset 1 (the 2 epithelial cell clusters expressing all these ligands including SFTPA1, ICAM1, CTGF, and CYR61) and subset 2 (the rest of epithelial cells), we assessed the tissue source and found that subset 1 was mostly (about 81%) from the tumor tissues, whereas subset 2 was mostly (about 91%) from the adjacent normal tissues (Figure S8B).
