Intensive glycemic control with tofogliflozin was shown when added to GLP‐1 receptor agonists in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose HbA1c levels had been poorly controlled with GLP‐1 receptor agonist monotherapy, which is consistent with the robust efficacy reported in the previous randomized placebo‐controlled, double‐blind trials9, long‐term phase III clinical trial10 and post‐marketing surveillance in elderly patients12. The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
