Associations between dopamine receptors and insulin levels have been described before (Scranton and Cincotta, 2010; Defronzo, 2011; Lamos et al., 2016), and antipsychotics, which block dopamine receptors, are linked with insulin resistance and diabetes in psychiatric patients (De Hert et al., 2011; Bobo et al., 2013).
