VCAM1 and colitis: Administration of 3,3-diindolylmethane (10 and 50 mg/kg of body weight in mice, p.o.)has been found to significantly attenuate the severity of TNBS-induced murine colitis, which was associated with the increase of expression of BRCA1, the decrease of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and the inhibition of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) expression and leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion.
