For instance, we discovered that the oncogenic mutant p53 protein prevents GAPDH-mediated autophagy in pancreatic cancer cells blocking the nuclear translocation of GAPDH through the stimulation of AKT and inhibition of AMPK signaling pathways [39,70], which are reported to directly phosphorylate GAPDH resulting in the inhibition or in the stimulation of GAPDH nuclear translocation, respectively [47,71].
