Originating from the hematopoietic stem cell, CML is featured by the mutation of translocation of chromosomes 9q34 and 22q11 at cytogenetic level (2), leading to the formation of the fusion gene, BCR-ABL, which encodes a cytoplasmic protein with high tyrosine kinase activity (3). This evidence concerns the gene ABL1 and chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
