HNRNPK and breast cancer: Of the 2 ss-eQTLs that were replicated, one of the target gene, Hnrnpk, has been linked to the neuroendocrine differentiation signaling in prostate cancer (Ciarlo et al., 2012), to the development of breast cancer (Hamrita et al., 2008), and has been suggested to be regulated by sex hormones (Ciarlo et al., 2012), providing some evidence to support its differential regulation between sexes.
