In another study, the treatment of lupus mice with resveratrol, a small polyphenol anti-inflammatory agent, enhances the expression of FcγRIIB on B cells and plasma cells, resulting in a marked depletion of plasma cells in the spleen and bone marrow, thereby decreasing serum autoantibody titers and ameliorating lupus nephritis; the authors have concluded that this upregulation of FcγRIIB is NF-κB dependent (146). This evidence concerns the gene FCGR2B and systemic lupus erythematosus.
