Irrespective of the antigenic stimulant used, we did not observe any significant differences between children with LTBI and those with active TB in relation to mycobacteria-specific IFN-γ+/IL-2+/TNF-α+ CD4+ T-cells, and in both groups the proportions of triple-positive polyfunctional CD4+ T-cells were generally considerably smaller than the proportions of single-positive CD4+ T-cells. This evidence concerns the gene IL2 and tuberculosis.
