In a follow-up experiment, we found that upregulated PAX6 expression elevated the expression of EMT marker genes (N-cadherin, vimentin, FSP-1), stem cell biomarkers (CD44, CD133, ALCAM), and the proliferation marker Ki67, yet it inhibited E-cadherin in tumor tissues as assessed by IHC.
