Although treatment with GLP-1 mimetics has been claimed to cause acute pancreatitis or renal impairment in humans [43,44,45,46], no causal relationship with the mimetics has been shown, and no evidence has been observed in mice, rats, or monkeys injected with a GLP-1 mimetic (liraglutide) at a dose 60 times that used for humans [47]. This evidence concerns the gene GCG and acute pancreatitis.
