Although our studies focused on developing agents for the treatment of prostate cancers, the prior report that aurones with 2-(coumarin-4-yl)methylene groups32 or 2-(furan-2-yl)methylene groups33 displayed in vitro activity against human leukemia K562 cells prompted a study of myc-induced T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) in a zebrafish model where these aurones also exhibited minimal toxicity. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
