The identified target genes are COL1A1, PIK3R1, VEGFA, TGM2, VCAM1, FOS, TXNIP, HSPA1A, IRF1, STAT1, GEM, PPP1R13L, IGF1R, HSP90AA1, TNC, EGR1, JUND, CD69, BCL2, PTX3, JUNB, JUN, and MITF. Except for two genes (GEM and PP1R13L), all other 21 target proteins were found to be strongly associated with obesity or obesity related disorders. The gene discussed is TXNIP; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
