Our qRT-PCR results further confirmed that MIP-1β, MCP-3, and GRO-α mRNA expression levels did not increase in blood mononuclear cells post-MI/R compared to the sham, while their protein levels were all upregulated in the heart, indicating that the increased MIP-1β, MCP-3, and GRO-α protein expressions in the serum may attribute to their release from the injured heart, and their serum levels may be used to predicate their expression in the injured heart at the chronic stage. This evidence concerns the gene CCL4 and myocardial infarction.
