To investigate the possible role of a STAT2-dependent type I IFN signaling pathway during S. Typhimurium induced intestinal infection, wild-type C57BL/6, Stat1-/- (deficient in both IFN-α/β and IFN-γ signaling), and Stat2-/- (deficient only in IFN-α/β signaling) mice were orally infected with 109 CFU of S. Typhimurium following streptomycin pretreatment. The gene discussed is STAT1; the disease is digestive system infectious disorder.
