PBX1 encodes a nuclear protein that belongs to the PBX homeobox family of transcriptional factors, and studies suggested PBX1 regulates the patterning of the cerebral cortex (Golonzhka et al., 2015) and its transcriptional network controls dopaminergic neuron development in Parkinson’s disease (Villaescusa et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene PBX1 and Parkinson disease.
