PGK1 and cancer: According to the MultitaskProtDB [36], glucose-6-phosphate isomerase, triosephosphate isomerase, and phosphoglycerate kinase 1, glycolytic proteins which we have found more abundant in the cancer samples, may show moonlighting functions in differentiation/ stimulation of cell migration (as a cytokine or a growth factor) [37], thrombosis/homeostasis [38], and angiogenesis (as a disulphide reductase) [39], respectively.
