Morgan et al. showed that two different haplotypes (572 C/174 G) which are associated with increased synthesis of IL-6, were statistically associated with increased intracranial aneurysm susceptibility32, and in a recent meta-analysis the association between the G572C polymorphism and ruptured and unruptured aneurysms was shown to be significant33. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and Dilatation of the cerebral artery.
