Six days after infection with the C. jejuni ΔhtrA deletion mutant, secondary abiotic IL-10−/− mice were suffering from less severe C. jejuni induced symptoms and developed less pronounced intestinal as well as extra-intestinal including systemic pro-inflammatory immune responses upon infection as compared to 11168WT strain infected control mice suffering from acute enterocolitis (Heimesaat et al., 2014a,b).
